Event Branding | 2016

The goal of this assignment was to create a set of advertising materials for the Boston Jazz Festival that visually connect the city and genre together. This event takes place every year throughout the city to celebrate and feature the diverse jazz artists of Boston. The materials required included a logo, festival poster, transit poster, and schedule of events for the Festival.

My solution was to combine elements of Jazz music and iconography from Fenway, the region of Boston that the festival takes place in, for a layered composition. The logo uses handwritten typography reminiscent of the spontaneity of Jazz, and the imagery used to represent the city and music follow a similarly roughened treatment. No aspect of these materials follow a uniform grid; everything is laid out to be out of kilter.
